In Mirrors two people are positioned a set distance apart in the landscape, and with the use of mirrors flash sunlight into the lens as a marker of time. The idea is to try and visualise the speed of rotation of the earth along a line of latitude. The mirrors are flashed out of sync, and the duration between the flashes represents the time it would take to travel from one mirror to the other at that latitude. In this instance, at N52˚46’30”, the distance between the people was 922ft and the duration between the flashes was 1 second.
